Arulagam's Vulture Conservation Team Raises Awareness at Foot and Mouth Disease Vaccination Camp Erode District, Tamil Nadu (Press Release)
Arulagam's Vulture Conservation Team, participated in a foot and mouth disease (FMD) vaccination camp conducted by the Animal Husbandry Department, Tamil Nadu, from June 22nd to 27th. Ms. Revathy and Ms. Sundari from Arulagam, distributed vulture awareness pamphlets at the camp locations in Thalavadi, Soosaipuram, and Simitahalli villages of Erode district.
Reaching Cattle Breeders and Veterinarians:
The vaccination camp provided a valuable opportunity to interact with cattle breeders and veterinarians in one setting. The team distributed informative pamphlets, available in both Tamil and Kannada, to address the predominant language in these villages.
Raising Awareness on Vulture Safety:
An awareness banner displayed during the event highlighted the importance of using safe alternatives to drugs that pose a threat to vultures. This initiative aimed to educate cattle owners and veterinary professionals about vulture conservation.
Vaccination Concerns Addressed:
While 61 cattle were vaccinated across Kalmandipuram, Solakar Tank, Doddagajanur, Jora Hosur, and Kamanpuram, the team noted a hesitancy among some locals to vaccinate their animals. Concerns regarding animal deaths post-vaccination were addressed through informative interactions.
