Arulagam commemorates International Women’s Day in collaboration with State Street Corporate Services

Arulagam, in collaboration with State Street Corporate Services, organized an International Women’s Day event at Tidel Park in Coimbatore. The event was observed to celebrate and empower women, particularly those from tribal communities. Arulagam set up a stall to showcase and sell items produced by tribal women. These items, which included natural honey, raw ragi, cow dung manure are procured from tribal women and packed by Arulagam team.

Moreover, saplings from Arulagam’s Poonthalir Nursery were displayed on the occasion to raise funds for educating the deprived students.

 

Products at the Stall:

1.Natural Honey: Sourced from tribal communities, this honey was packed with care by tribal women.

 

2.Raw Ragi: Harvested by a tribal woman farmer.  This nutritious grain was freshly ground and packed by Arulagam’s team Sundari and Revathi who contributed to the packing of raw ragi for sale. 

3.Cow-dung manure:

 Arulagam celebrated International Women's Day by collecting, packaging, and selling cow and buffalo dung, recognising its economic value to rural women beyond milk. The initiative's success in the community has prompted Arulagam to expand the program, creating income opportunities for elderly women.

4.Poonthalir Nursery Plants : Mrs. Kavitha Bharathidasan, who manages the Poonthalir Nursery of Arulagam , contributed to the event by bringing 200 plants for sale. These items were well-received by attendees and were aimed at promoting sustainable gardening and agriculture within the community.

 

Purpose of the Event:

The proceeds from the sale will be directed towards the welfare and educational support of tribal women and their communities. The funds will be used to:

• Support women’s education in tribal communities.
• Provide resources for the well-being of tribal women.
• Encourage sustainable livelihoods and agricultural practices.

The Women’s Day event at Tidel Park was a significant step in recognising the contributions of tribal women to their communities. Through the sale of locally produced goods, Arulagam, in collaboration with State Street, was able to raise awareness of welfare schemes, while also generating funds for their well-being. The event not only highlighted the talent and resilience of these women but also fostered a sense of support for their continued empowerment.
